Avengers Age of Ultron
Well its May and you know what that means for movies, its Summer Blockbuster time. Starting us off this year is the sequel to the 2012 hit Avengers. I am going to try to keep this review spoiler free. Unless you have been under a rock you should know by now how Marvel movies work. Also if you are a fan of Joss Whedon's work you should know how this is going to turn out. That being said I have to give it up to Joss and the crew at Marvel, they did a great job. I thought that this movie may suffer from a sequelitis but it does not, following the first movie was going to be tough and in my opinion they did a very good job. The movie has great pacing, action, and most of all acting. There are a lot of cameos here with Falcon, War Machine, and Dr. Solveig showing up oh and as always Stan Lee has a cameo as well. Tonally, the movie tries to up the stakes with the villain Ultron played by James Spader. Spader does a great job with the character in my opinion, I think he was written well also. As much as I enjoyed this movie I did have a couple of issues with it as well. One of them is a holdover from the first movie. There are to many jokes in this one. Look I don't mind jokes but when the stakes are high you're supposed to have the feeling that 'oh man how are they going to get out of this.' Well I never had that feeling because it was like the Marvel Comedy Hour in the film and I know it sounds like a nitpick but it just bothered me. The other thing I didn't like were the accents they gave to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. They just didn't sound that good to me, I'm guessing they were going for an Eastern European accent but it just didn't work in my opinion. Those are the only things that I didn't like about the movie. Oh and before I forget if you are a fan of Hawkeye, you will be happy to know that he has a bigger role in the movie. I know there were a lot of people more than a little pissed with the first movie for that and here they rectify that issue. All in all I have to say it is a well done film and they do sow the seeds for Captain America Civil War that will be coming next year. I am looking forward to Phase 3 and seeing what Marvel will be giving us leading up to Infinity War.
This is Avengers if you saw the first movie you can expect more of the same action and violence wise. There is some language in the movie but one of the jokes in the film addresses it and its actually pretty funny. It is a PG-13 movie and it is about two and a half hours long but due to the pacing you don't really feel it.
This is FULL PRICE IN 3D. I mean Marvel does good work and the 3D in the movie is actually not that bad. Also if you live near a theater that has MFX aka D-Box its worth the purchase.
