Synopsis (from IMDB): After returning to the criminal underworld to repay a debt, Wick discovers there is a large bounty on his life.
So he found his car, pretty much destroys his car, and that's the opening credits peeps. The sequel follows Wick as he is forced to repay a debt. There is a lot to like about this movie as it picks up right where the first one leaves off. Everything you liked about the original is here. The look and the feel remain intact and the action sequences are a sight to see. It is also nice to see that Wick isn't immortal. They show him get hurt a lot in this movie and through sheer will and determination he keeps going. The film does a great job of showing why everybody is pretty much in fear of him and don't want to be on his bad side. I have to give it to the filmmakers they do a good job of ramping the action sequences up so that the last sequence is topped by what they pull off next. The acting is about the same from the original and that's fine. You're not in this movie for that, you're here for the action and they give you a lot. If you have an aversion to headshots and death by pencil then this may not be for you.
I did notice a few things in the movie that had me scratching my head. For some reason about halfway through the movie, it seems like everybody was an assassin. It really got ridiculous and seemed to only be there for Wick to kill in a hilariously ridiculous way. Another thing I didn't like the main villain. He was too weak to me, you would think that someone who knows Wick skill level would not try to cross him. He does this and then acts like a scared punk when his plans fall apart. Finally, and this is something that kills me with movies like these. Where in the blue hell do they get all those henchmen from? I mean seriously, is there a Henchmen R' Us? I know they were there just to give the movie a high kill count but one of the things I liked about the first one was that it didn't go that route.
This movie is rated R for a reason. There is a lot of blood and gore in the film. It's a good sequel to the first film. If you liked that one I don't see why you wouldn't like this one. The movie clocks in at around 2 hours and is paced well. There are a couple of slow parts in the movie but it didn't drag the movie down.
I give this movie a MATINEE. It's a fun movie even though it's completely ridiculous. There is a setup for a third movie and it will be interesting to see how that works out. Oh and for those that want to know, yes the dog makes it through this one. Have you seen John Wick Chapter 2? What do you think? Let me know in the comments and thanks for reading.
