Movie Review - Justice League Dark

Synopsis: Batman forms a new team of dark arts specialists that is led by John Constantine. The team must unravel the mystery of a supernatural plague and contend with the rising, powerful villainous forces behind the siege.

I have to ask this question off the rip but why is this movie Rated R? I mean there is nothing in here that would warrant this movie being R unless I missed something. That being said I did enjoy the movie. Like the majority of the DC animated features, there is a lot to like here. The art style looks great and the animation is fluid. What separates this one from their other releases is the cast. Matt Ryan voices Constantine and can we just get him to play it forever. He is just that good. If you don't know who that is, he is the actor that was playing the character in the short-lived live-action TV series. The voice acting is very good and the cast does a good job with the story. One of my favorite characters in the movie was Zatanna. Her character was done very well and I am hoping that they do more with her in the future. As a matter of fact, I would love for them to do another one with the Dark team as I think they did a great job with this movie.

The one thing that I didn't like was the fact that I think that they tried a little hard to make this R but there is nothing in it that actually warrants it. For example, there is a scene in the movie where two demons get their heads chopped off and there is no blood and they are still carrying on a conversation like nothing has happened. In my opinion, this is about the same as the Justice League vs Teen Titans movie. There aren't any jump scares or anything like that in the movie as well. Other than that, the story is coherent and consistent and the characters are all likable as well. The animation is fluid and the action scenes are amazing to watch.

For Parents
I would say watch this first. It is Rated R, but as I explained earlier I don't know why it's rated that way. Honestly, if anything it should be PG-13. There is a little bit of language but nothing out of the ordinary for any of their animated features.  It's about an hour and fifteen minutes long and is a very enjoyable movie that is well paced.

The Verdict
I enjoyed myself with this feature I would recommend that any fan of the DC animated films pick this up. There is a First Look for the next feature and it is for Teen Titans Judas Contract. I am interested in seeing that movie as well as I enjoyed the other Teen Titan feature. Have you seen Justice League Dark? What did you think about it? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading.
