e3 2017 and My Thoughts on the Conferences

Hopefully, you caught my YouTube channel live reactions from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo's conferences. If you haven't yet drop by the channel and check them out. What I want to focus on in this post are the games that caught my attention or that I am looking into picking up when they release. I thought that there was some good variety from each of the big three this year and I think that gamers will agree that there is a little something for everyone at this years e3.

Microsoft

First up, Microsoft. With the reveal of the XBox ONE X, we got a chance to look at the machine as well as the release date and price. The console will drop on November 7, 2017, and will retail for $499.99. Not gonna lie it looks good but it's not in my budget at the moment so if I do pick up one it will be at a later date.  Now let's talk games, shall we?

Assassin's Creed Origins: We got a release date for this one and the game will be dropping on October 27, 2017. This game has me hyped for a couple of reasons. One, the game's setting is in ancient Egypt and it looks like the development team has done a lot of research for this one. If you have a chance check out the developer's diary on UbiSoft's YouTube channel. It has been a while since I have played an Assassin's Creed game and I am looking forward to diving into this one later this year.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z: I am a huge Dragon Ball fan and this just looks like a lot of fun to me. Looking forward to learning more about this game in the coming months.

CupHead: I am just glad we finally got a date for this one. I have been looking forward to this game for a while now and I am glad to finally see that it will be ready for release on September 29, 2017.

Crackdown 3: How can you not like a game that has an intro from Terry Crews. Like CupHead, this is a game that I have been waiting to hear more about and this game has also will be getting a release this year. This game is set to release on November 7, 2017.

Anthem: Bioware is known for making some cool games and Anthem looks very interesting. I do have some reservations but that is only because of EA. As far as the game is concerned I think that it has a unique and interesting look. I like the world and think that it can be a game that players can easily lose themselves in, this one is supposedly coming in 2018.

Sony

Next up was Sony which had a short conference this year (thankfully). They showed a nice variety of games including some VR titles. There were only a few that I am interested in personally, but overall I thought they had a good showing. I have to say this though, that crowd they had at the presentation was awful. I kinda got the impression that they didn't want to be there or they were just simply unimpressed. It's a shame too as this was probably one of my favorite Sony conferences.

Uncharted Lost Legacy:  This is a standalone game from Naughty Dog that is set in the Uncharted game universe. The game looks amazing and just going by the trailer, gamers should be in for quite the ride when the game finally releases.

God of War: Kratos in Norse Mythology, I can dig it. I am interested in seeing how the story will develop from where we left off in God of War III. Seeing as how I was under the impression that Kratos destroyed the world once he took down Zeus. That being said the game does look great and the voice acting is on point as usual.  This game has a release window of early 2018 (I think that it is going to get at least one more delay before then) we'll just have to wait and see.

Detroit Become Human: An interesting title to say the least. The game seems to be an adventure game based on choice. I liked what was shown in the trailer. While I didn't see a date this game is on my list of games to look out for in the coming months. Hopefully, we'll get to see more in the future.

Spider-Man: This game not only looked great but brought back a lot of good memories. What was shown was a nice little gameplay segment following Mr. Negative. Needless to say, the game has me hyped as it looked great and the combat seemed smooth and flowed well. There was no concrete release date but we were given Coming in 2018, here's hoping that they can stick to that and the game doesn't get pushed back or delayed.

Nintendo

Finally, with the shortest presentation of the big three, Nintendo gave us a few surprises and a few release dates for some games that we know about. Just as in past years, Nintendo is doing the Treehouse Live events throughout the week. This year in addition to that there are Invitational Tournaments for Pokken Tournament, Splatoon, and ARMS with players from all over the world. All of these can be seen on Twitch and YouTube, so check it out when you have a chance.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: This game looks great and actually looks better than it did back in January. The trailer shows a lot of new characters and we get a look at the main character Rex and Pyrah. There is a Treehouse Live video showing gameplay and after watching that this game moved to my must purchase list for this year. The game is set for release Holiday 2017.

Fire Emblem Warriors: I am a fan of the Dynasty Warriors series but I also like when KoeiTecmo ventures out to do these type of spin off type games. Hyrule Warriors is one of my favorite games on the Wii U and I am looking forward to the Fire Emblem characters being playable in this title. The trailer looks great and is set to release this fall.

Mario X Rabbids Kingdom Battle: This game came out of nowhere for me. The game looks crazy but fun as well and that's why I will be picking this one up. The Rabbids games are always crazy and weird but adding the Mushroom Kingdom to the mix makes for an interesting time. The trailer gives a good amount of comedy with how the game will play. Looking forward to this one when it releases on August 29, 2017.

Super Mario Odyssey: What is the best way to describe this game? Hmmm, well you throw your hat on a frog and you become the frog. Yep people, if it's a weird gameplay mechanic in a platforming game on Nintendo system then it's probably a Mario title. I can't really do the breakdown justice so please watch the trailer and I think you'll understand why I am picking this game up.

Thanks for reading peeps. These are a few of the games that have caught my eye. Overall I have liked e3 I think that there have been some cool reveals and it's always cool to get release dates. Is it the best e3 ever? In my opinion, no, it isn't but that doesn't mean that it wasn't enjoyable. All I really want to know about are the games anyway and I have been pleasantly surprised by some and others have left me scratching my head. What games are you looking forward to this year? Are you planning on picking up an XBox One X? Let's discuss in the comments and as always thanks for reading.
