Film Review - One Piece Film Z

One Piece Film Z

The Movie
This movie originally came out in Japan in 2012. The movie revolves around a former Marine named Black Arm Zephyr and his desire to pretty much kill every pirate in the new world. This movie takes place after the 2 year time jump so if you are strictly watching the english dub you may be at a loss for why the characters look the way they do. Be that as it may, the movie is paced well and the animation is clean. Fans of One Piece will know what to expect as the movie has everything a fan of the series likes. The action in the movie is awesome. I have to give the creators of the movie credit the story is well done. A lot of the characters from the series show up in the movie as well and the back story on Zephyr is very well done. I really didn't have to many issues with this movie at all. I think that it is the best one in this series so far. Just so you know I have seen all of the movies and OVA's that have come out for One Piece. If I had any issues wi…

First Impressions - Hyrule Warriors

Hyrule Warriors - Nintendo Wii U

The Game
I have to say I love a good mash up and before I get into my impressions of this game, I have to say that one of my favorite mash ups was One Piece Pirate Warriors 1 and 2. These games were on the PS3, fun games if you are interested in checking those out. Now on to the main event. Hyrule Warriors is a collaboration between Nintendo and Tecmo Koei that mashes up The Legend of Zelda universe with the Dynasty Warriors universe.  Being a huge Zelda fan I have been looking forward to this game ever since it was revealed in 2013. Tecmo's attention to detail is amazing and there are a lot of homages to the Legend of Zelda games packed in to this one. From the opening cinematic, to the gameplay, to the music there is a lot to see and do in this game. Fans of both series should be able to enjoy it as elements of both are on display throughout the experience.

The Graphics
This game looks beautiful. If you saw the original direct where it was revealed b…

First Impressions - Destiny

Destiny - Available on PS4, PS3, XBONE, XBOX 360, and PC;
Version Played PS4

The Game
So I have finally played enough of my favorite Sony game from e3 this year. Now a lot has been said about this game and the hype around it which is exactly why it has taken me this long to do my first impression for this game. First the game is an MMO, despite what some may believe it is an MMO. For those that have played an MMO before it is a little light on the content. I know that there are people who are going to be upset about this as when you look at other MMO's they are usually packed with content. This lead's to one of the problems that I have with the game. I think that this game suffers from an identity crisis. Its like it wants to be Mass Effect, Halo, Call of Duty, and World of Warcraft. Me personally I am having fun with the game but I can understand how some people are having issues with this. My suggestion would be continue to play the game, there are a lot of things to enjoy and…

Heavenly Sword The Movie

Heavenly Sword The Movie

The Movie
This is a straight to dvd movie much in the same way that Final Fantasy Advent Children was back in 2005. This movie is obviously a love letter to the fans of the game. I had some problems with this movie and  I think it is because they were trying to stay as close to the game as possible. If you have played the game then you know the story. All of the characters from the game are here and their respective voice actors minus Andy Serkis as King Bohan. Alfred Molina steps up to the plate as the voice for King Bohan and Thomas Jane plays a character that wasn't in the game, named Loki. The game itself was action heavy and the movie is as well. One of the problems that I have with this movie is that the violence is uneven. The are quick to show blood but the animation just doesn't look right. Another thing that I didn't like about the movie was that at times it felt a little uneven. It was almost as if they were trying to make the story fit a …

First Impressions - Azure Striker Gunvolt

Azure Striker Gunvolt: Avaliable on Nintendo 3DS

The Game
Keiji Inafune sure does love teasing people and embarrassing Capcom doesn't he, I mean the man is awesome at what he does. The man behind Mega Man has a game in the Nintendo eShop, Azure Striker GunVolt. The game plays a lot like the Mega Man X series and takes some of its playstyle from that series. Me personally, I am a fan of that particular series so this is a lot of fun for me. I am about an hour and fifteen minutes into the game and I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying myself.

The Artstyle
Like I stated earlier the game looks and plays a lot like the Mega Man X series of games. That being said the characters and story have an anime feel to them. I feel like the enemy designs had a lot of thought and heart poured into them. Some of the main enemies are just plain hilarious and I like the different forms that they have as well. The enemies are varied and that plays into the combat of the game. That is something that …
