First Impressions Rare Replay

Perfect Dark: Rare Replay Available on XBONE

The Game
So I picked up Rare Replay for my ONE and I was trying to figure out should I do a post about the whole thing or just take it game by game. I decided to do my impressions on a game by game basis as some of the games in the collection I won't be getting to anytime soon. So the first game I chose to play was one of my personal favorite games from the N64 and that is the original Perfect Dark. This game plays a lot like 007 Goldeneye but a whole lot better in my opinion. This game is actually the same remaster that is on the Xbox 360 which was a great port. The game holds up very well and I must say still looks great. The control scheme feels good and the best part the multiplayer is still in tact and plays smoothly (at least in the playthroughs I have done).

The Gameplay
This game is a first person shooter and a damn good one in my opinion. This game actually introduced a lot of cool mechanics back in 1999 that made the gameplay st…

First Impressions - The Legend of Kay Anniversary Edition

Image
Available on Wii U, PS4, PS3, XBOX 360 and PC; version played Wii U

The Game
The Legend of Kay Anniversary Edition is an HD remake of the 2005 Playstation game from Nordic Games. The game follows the adventure of a young cat warrior named Kay as he seeks to free his village from the gorilla's and rat's that have taken over. The game uses anthropomorphic animals in a pre Kung Fu Panda type tale. The game has all the trappings of an old Shaw Brothers film, even down to the music which I will get to later. Graphically, the game looks good. However, I must say this that some parts of the game looks like they were touched up better than others. I noticed it especially when you zoom in on certain things, other than that its not to bad. All in all I think that the game looks good.

The Gameplay/Combat
The game is a mix of action and platforming with some puzzle solving thrown in for good measure. The combat is not bad but there is a small learning curve as some of the techniques require…

First Impressions - Onechanbara Z 2 Chaos

Image
Available on PS4

The Game
So you know how Anita Sarkeesian is always talking about misogyny in games, but usually she talks about games that aren't like that at all. Well here's one that is heavy on the fan service. Onechanbara is a long running series spanning multiple consoles and involves women in bikini's, cowboy hats, and cowboy boots taken out zombies and other types of crazy monsters. The newest release in the series is available on the PS4 and is the first game in the series to actually have an English voice track, more on that later. I am not going to lie but this is one of my favorite guilty pleasure series. The game itself doesn't take its material to seriously and this game is inherently Japanese. That being said it is pretty much a niche title.

The Gameplay/Combat
This game is purely action oriented. It will remind most people of something like Dynasty Warriors a little. The combat is hack and slash with some berserker and special moves thrown in to change u…

Film Review - Dragon Ball Z Resurrection F

Image
The Movie
I just got back from watching this and I have to say not bad, not bad at all. Let me begin this review by stating that if you are not a fan of the Dragon Ball series then you are more than likely not going to like this film. This film for the most part is purely for the fans, especially fans of Frieza.  The theater I was at did not put any trailers on this film so it just started right out the gate, so my suggestion to any going to watch this movie is don't be late. Right from the start two of Frieza's lesser known soldiers hatch a plan to bring the tyrant back from the dead. Using the dragon balls they are able to wish Frieza back to life and that is where the film starts. The pace of the movie is fast even though it is about an hour and forty-five minutes, the pace never lets up. This film is all about action, I mean its dragon ball its what you come to see. The majority of the characters from the series get to fight and it was good to see your old favorites taking…
