First Impressions - Onechanbara Z 2 Chaos

Available on PS4

The Game
So you know how Anita Sarkeesian is always talking about misogyny in games, but usually she talks about games that aren't like that at all. Well here's one that is heavy on the fan service. Onechanbara is a long running series spanning multiple consoles and involves women in bikini's, cowboy hats, and cowboy boots taken out zombies and other types of crazy monsters. The newest release in the series is available on the PS4 and is the first game in the series to actually have an English voice track, more on that later. I am not going to lie but this is one of my favorite guilty pleasure series. The game itself doesn't take its material to seriously and this game is inherently Japanese. That being said it is pretty much a niche title.

The Gameplay/Combat
This game is purely action oriented. It will remind most people of something like Dynasty Warriors a little. The combat is hack and slash with some berserker and special moves thrown in to change up the pace. Each character has two weapons/styles a piece and knowing when to use what weapon is very useful. Like most action games there is a grade based on performance of each skirmish. Don't worry its a more forgiving system than something like Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta, but it will take a little know how to get good combat grades.

The Music/Soundtrack
The soundtrack is okay for now. If you have played other games in the series its no better or worse in my opinion. The voice acting is good. I am actually surprised, but the voice actors they got are very good with the main actresses all coming from various English dubbed anime's. That will always be a huge plus in my book.

The Wrap Up
This is a niche series not even going to lie about that, not that there is anything wrong with that but it is the truth. I have not completed the game yet but I am working on it. I hope to wrap it up soon, so I can do a full review. In the meantime check out the gameplay trailer from my gaming channel.
