First Impressions - One Piece Pirate Warriors 3

Available on PS4, PS3, PSVita, and PC; Version Played PS4

The Game
This is the 3rd game in the One Piece Pirate Warriors series. Just like the Hyrule Warriors game last year, this is a musou game but this time the game is based in the world of the manga/anime hit One Piece. Having played Pirate Warriors 2 I was stoked to pick this title up. If you know anything about musou games you know that the game takes place on a huge map and you have specific conditions to victory that must be met within a given time period (usually 60 minutes). The game itself has plenty of modes to play through and an online component as well that as of this post I have not had a chance to take a look at yet. This game covers every arc from Romance Dawn through Dressrosa, which just recently wrapped up in the manga a few weeks ago.

The Gameplay
The best way to describe the gameplay of this game is hack n slash. I know some people don't really like that type of playstyle but when you add the special and team attacks it adds some strategy to the game. In this game, Koei Tecmo added Kizuna Attacks which are your team/crew attacks. You can have up to four characters when you start a Kizuna Attack. I must admit that I like the animations for those attacks also its cool to experiment with different characters as the combination will always change.

The Soundtrack
Well its in Japanese, which isn't a problem for me as I prefer the original voices from the anime anyway. The soundtrack is pretty good. I like the music as it is upbeat and great for the action of the game. Some of it sounds like remixes of certain tracks from the series (at least I think it is, I could be wrong).

The Wrap UP
Much like the Dynasty Warriors games I feel this one is going to be a niche game as well. Fans of the anime and manga will probably enjoy it as there is a lot of things from the series in game. For the gamer this game has plenty of modes and characters to choose from so I can see some gamers having fun with this one.
