First Impressions - Halo 5 Guardians

Available on XBONE

The Game
It's taken a little while but here are my thoughts on the latest Halo game from 343 Studios. Overall not a bad game. The campaign mode has been beefed up and offers solo as well as online co-op. This is where the story of Guardians kicks in as it covers two teams that of Fireteam Osiris and Blue Team and their various missions through the course of that mode. I won't get into story specifics but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The graphics on the game are outstanding. Everything from the character models to the environments look really detailed and fleshed out. The animations are fluid and the game play runs very smooth. I cannot say enough about how great this game looks, 343 did a very good job handling the look and overall feel of the Halo universe. The game isn't to hard but it also isn't mind numbingly easy as well. It strikes a good balance in my opinion at least in my time with the game.

The Latest Nintendo Direct

Before I give my thoughts on the latest Direct I would like to say that I am glad that they are back and that Nintendo will continue doing them. This is probably one of the best ways to get information to fans without mistranslations and other issues that can arise. Its been a long time since Nintendo has held a Direct and I won't go through everything they covered just some of the games that I am looking forward to for the rest of the year and early part of next year. No worries I will link the vid at the end of this post so you can watch it, its only 45 minutes in length. With that said on to the show.
Wii U Twilight Princess HD - This one had been leaked to be true a few weeks ago and honestly I am looking forward to the release. Twilight Princess is not my favorite Zelda game it is a game that I have enjoyed playing. The cool thing about this reveal is the new Wolf Link Amiibo that is coming with it, the game also is compatible with the Smash Bros Legend of Zelda amiibos.  Look…

Film Review - The Peanuts Movie

The Movie
I am just getting back from the movie and this is one of the few times that I can honestly say that I couldn't find one thing that I did not like in this film. The movie is based on the comic strip from Charles Schulz and follows everyone's favorite blockhead, Charlie Brown. Now most people will know or remember the Holiday specials that used to come on during Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas don't worry all of the characters act like they always have. In the movie there are segments where they switch from the CG to a more hand drawn black and white look that works well with the story they are telling. In this feature there is a new family moving in to the neighborhood and Charlie Brown sees this as the perfect opportunity to have his fortunes change for the better. When Charlie and the gang find out that its a girl with red hair (that's what they call her in the movie, no lie), Charlie has an insta-crush and its up to Snoopy to whip him into shape. I t…

First Impressions - Tales of Zestiria

*Disclaimer: I meant to have this post up last week but I had a death in the family. Anyway, here is the post with a discussion vid to come later.

Available on PS4, PS3, and Steam

The Game
Ten hours in and I am enjoying this game. The Tales series of JRPGs are some of my favorite role playing games. Each game in the series is a standalone game so you don't have to own all of them or even have played previous games in the series. This game is released for the 20th anniversary of the series. The game's story revolves around Sorey, a human living among Seraphim in a village called Elysia. At the game's opening Sorey is investigating some ancient ruins with his childhood friend Mikleo when they stumble upon another human, Alisha a knight from the Kingdom of Hyland. After there chance meeting Sorey heads out to the world of humans and the game begins. If you know anything about the Tales games you know that they are heavily influenced by anime and have a cel-shade look in their g…
