First Impressions - Fast Racing Neo

Available on Nintendo Wii U

The Game
One of my personal most anticipated games of 2015 is here. Fast Racing Neo is the sequel to Fast Racing from Shin' en Multimedia. As you may have guessed this is a racing game and a budget title at that (nothing wrong with that). That being said this game is fun. Graphically, it looks great there is always something happening in the background of each of the tracks. A nice touch that Shin' en added was weather effects. That's right there are weather effects in this game and it works beautifully and looks great as well. Like its name this game is FAST!!! Imagine Mario Kart with 1000cc and you might be close to the slowest cup in this game. Its an amazing feat that the game is running at 720p and 60 frames per second especially with the extra things going on in the background.

The Gameplay
It's a racing game. I mean I don't think you can get more straight forward than that, however, this game will remind you of F-Zero or Wipeout. It is fast and unforgiving and you know what I wouldn't have it any other way. Even on the slowest cup it may take a couple of tries before you get in first place. Some people may balk at the difficulty of the game but I think that the difficulty is one of this games strengths. It will take a while to learn the tracks and get used to the speed but once you do that trust me, this game gets more manageable and fun. Of course on some of the faster cups you have to be perfect just to hope you can come in the top 3 but that is where strategy will take over. Yes, you will have to use a bit of strategy in this game in order to come in first. There are various control options for this game so you can find the one that works best for you. I personally like using the Pro controller, not for any particular reason, I just like that option when I am playing this game. Control wise there are plenty of options to use. There is replay value in that you start with 3 racers and have to unlock the rest. There are also multiple modes and I will be honest with you I have not went online yet as I am trying to get my skill level up. I just don't want to embarrass myself just yet. When I go online I will post a vid of that experience for everyone to see.

The Soundtrack
The music is okay for this game. Some of it is electronic, its not bad but not great either at least in my opinion. However, I will say that the music does match a lot of the tracks. I know its kind of weird to say that but I feel like a few of the tracks just work with the type of music that is in the game. There isn't that much voice acting, just the announcer and that's fine.

This game is available in the Nintendo eShop for $14.99. This game is a great edition to the gaming library. Especially, for those who have been jonesing for F-Zero. This game is fast, beautiful, and challenging its what gamers love about the futuristic racing genre. Can't wait to see what Shin' en has got cooking up for the next title. This team does an excellent job with whatever they get their hands on and I am glad for that.
