Gaming Recommendations - Xenoblade Chronicles X

Available on the Wii U

The Game
This game came out close to this time last year and while people have their own personal feelings about the game itself one thing you cannot deny is that they do not skimp on the content. The game opens with Earth getting wiped out and blown up Dragon Ball Z style with the last remnants of humanity aboard a huge ship called the White Whale. The ship crash lands on a planet called Mira and from there the game begins. Graphically speaking the game is beautiful and expansive. This game is huge and has plenty to see and do in the game world. It can get it a little crazy with all the side quests that you have the option of taking and believe me its in your best interest to do some of those quests. As far as the story goes I found it enjoyable. I have talked to people who don't really like the story because they were comparing it to the Xenoblade Chronicles game that came out on the Wii. I can't really blame them for that way of thinking but I still thought this one was enjoyable, not perfect but enjoyable. If you are looking for a game that will keep you busy for a while this is one that will. There is plenty of variety in this game between the combat styles, weapons, and skells (your mech that youget 30 hours in to the game) there are plenty of ways to customize the game to your particular play style.

The Game Play
This game is an action RPG. While it is not necessary it will help if you have played Xenoblade Chronicles as the combat flow is pretty much the same with improvements. As far as being customizable there are a number of different styles you can choose from but those styles all have a long range and melee weapon. My personal favorite is the Samurai Gunner but it is important to play around with a few styles and see which one better suits the type of player that you are. My favorite addition to the combat is that of Overdrives. An Overdrive allows your player to rack up massive amounts of damage and when done at the right time can be very advantageous in battles. Also Skells come in handy especially against Tyrants and Giant monsters that you will run into in Mira. Trust me you will run into a lot of them.

The Wrap Up
This is a great game for fans of the JRPG genre. It has a lot of replay value and the sheer amount of things you can do in game is amazing. While the story can seem to be a low point for some people, I think overall the game is a fun enjoyable experience. You won't see anything quite like it on the Wii U and it is a fantastic game for that system and its library.
