Series Review - Stranger Things Season 1

Available on NetFlix
*Disclaimer: I know I'm a little late to the party but due to my health I wasn't able to watch it when it first aired and finally got a chance to watch it recently.

The Season
So I finally got around to finishing Stranger Things Season 1 and as a child of the 80's I wholeheartedly approve. There is a lot to like here especially if you are a fan of films like The Goonies. The season revolves around the disappearance of a young boy named Will Byers. What Stranger Things does well is pacing. Nothing felt like it wasn't important or needed. In my opinion there weren't any filler episodes and I personally thought that the episode count was perfect at eight. The actors did a great job making it feel like the 80's (the season is set in 1983). For fans of Easter Eggs and pop culture references there are plenty set in each episode throughout the season. They also did a great job on the creature effects and showing the other dimension. I have to say that the way that the series was shot was amazing. The soundtrack wasn't bad either and I am finding myself enjoying the Netflix Original shows theme music. Which reminds me fans of Daredevil be on the lookout your favorite hustler is in this series. I guess no Netflix Original can keep him out. The show also does a good job of keeping the viewer engaged. Once I finished the season I had some questions but I feel like the majority of my questions were answered in the season. The rest of my questions actually have to do with the semi cliffhanger at the end of the season. All in all I couldn't find anything that I didn't like about it, a great season from start to finish and I am really looking forward to Season 2.

For Parents
Here's what you probably need to know. There is some foul language used and a lot of times it comes from the kids. There are some jump scares in there, they may not scare you but they will probably scare the kids. There is a sex scene involving teens but you don't really see anything. Its TV-14 just so you know, personally I think that its not as bad as The Lord of The Rings as far as the jump scares and the sci-fi parts of the story.

The Wrap
I'm giving this a WATCH IT NOW. This is in my top five Netflix shows at the moment. There is just a lot to love about it, from the story, to the characters, and even the cliffhanger. This is one of those shows that will have you talking and trying to figure out what's going to happen.
