Gaming Recommendations - Super Smash Bros Wii U/3DS

Available on the Wii U and 3DS

The Game
Smash Bros is probably the most self explanatory game ever created, however if you would like a short synopsis here goes; Looney Tunes + Nintendo characters = FIGHT!!!!!! The thing that makes this game special to me is the fact that there are always a plethora of modes and so many different ways to play. If you want to play competitively you can, if you want to have fun and create chaos you can do that as well. One of the best party games out there and with the inclusion of some third party characters as well this version of Smash is one of the best Nintendo has made. The roster list in this game is big and the characters feel unique (with the obvious exception of a few, I'm looking at you Ganondorf and Lucina). There is also plenty to do on both the single player as well as online fronts of this game. The modes are plentiful on both the 3DS and Wii U versions and will keep gamers busy for a long time. The 3DS version does have some differences from the Wii U version and vice versa. For example, the stages on the 3DS version come from 3DS/DS games (well the majority of them do). Also the modes differ a little between the versions but there is still something for everyone in these games.

The Game Play/Online
Another thing that's pretty much self explanatory. The purpose of Smash Bros is to knock your opponent off the stage. If you are playing with items on then wacky randomness will ensue. If you are playing with 4 or more people (the Wii U has an 8 player mode) then someone will steal your launches and more than likely it will be me.  For those that are more competitive you can turn all that stuff off and your match will more than likely be boring, I kid. I can't say it enough that they are so many ways to play this game from stock matches, to minutes, to playing with HP; there is something for everyone in this title. The online I have found to be smooth. In the two years since its release I have only ran into lag a few times and it definitely wasn't my side. Other than that its been a smooth experience. Also in online there are two main ways to play For Fun and For Glory. For Glory is for the competitive crowd, all matches are one on one with no items and on Final Destination style stages. For Fun is as the name implies For Fun, items are on and matches are 4 player slugfests. You can also set up matches with friends as well as tournaments. A lot of care was taken in to this game and is a great party game. If you know anything about the game creator Masahiro Sakurai, then you know he packs his games with a lot of content. Smash Bros is no different and can keep gamers busy for a long time.

Final Thoughts
This game is one that belongs in any Nintendo fans gaming library. Its also a great gift idea as there is a ton of content and modes to keep gamers busy for a long time. Also with the inclusion of 8 player Smash the level of ridiculous chaos reaches levels of epic proportions. Do you have the game? Who's your favorite character? Let me know in the comments below.
