First Impressions - Fire Emblem Heroes

Available on iOS and Android

Initial Thoughts
Let me start by saying I don't normally game on my phone or tablet outside of games like Bejeweled and Solitaire. It's also important to note that while I am not the biggest fan of the Fire Emblem series I do know a little about them due to their inclusion in the Smash Bros series and Google Search. I have to give it to Nintendo and Intelligent Systems, I am impressed with what they have done. The game's story is simple enough, the Emblian Empire is subjugating various worlds (i.e. games in the Fire Emblem series) in a bid to conquer the world. You are known as a summoner and can summon various heroes of the Fire Emblem universe to aid you and the kingdom of Askr in putting a stop to the Emblian Empire.  For a mobile game, there is a lot of information in the game and it would be very time consuming to go over it here. I will put the Direct that was done for it on this post as it does a pretty good job of being a primer for the game.

There is a lot that I like about the game. From a gameplay perspective, the artwork is amazing and the battles play out in a strategy RPG focused way, this echoes the gameplay of the mainline series. I do like how the game is segmented to be bite-sized in gameplay. There are many modes in the game but I have been utilizing the training mode mostly. There are plenty of characters to choose from and add to your teams. At the moment I am trying my hand at making a couple of different teams to use for different scenarios and leveling them up accordingly. Recently, the developers have stated that they will be making updates to the game often. I think gamers will appreciate this very much. Also, on a side note as someone who uses Android devices, I would like to say thanks for releasing this game the same time as the Apple release.

If there is anything that I have an issue with at this point it is that the game is a battery hog. I have noticed that it drains my battery about as bad as Miitomo did when it first released. Hopefully, this will be addressed soon as I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed this happening.

Final Thoughts
It's a fun game when its all said and done. I think that hardcore fans of the series can enjoy this as well as the casual fan. The amount of modes and ease of play are also a plus. However, the game may be easy to pick up but can get challenging if you are not properly prepared. I have died a couple of times due to the fact that I bit off a little more than I should have. So have you tried Fire Emblem Heroes yet? Are you a fan of the series? Have you got your favorite Fire Emblem character yet? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading.
