The latest Nintendo Direct (The Extremely Short Version)

NOTE: This post is going to be short because I plan on doing a podcast on the presentation where I will go into more detail. Thanks for your understanding in advance.
SIDE NOTE: Sorry for the lack of blog posts. Please blame Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild.
FURTHER SIDE NOTE: Almost done with Breath of the Wild so posts should go back to normal of at least twice a week.

The Direct
Looks like we have a new host for the Directs, Koizumi (I can never remember his first name) was the host for today's Direct. The direct focused on ARMs and Splatoon 2 but had a lot of announcements peppered in between for both the 3DS and the Switch. There were also a lot of release dates given and a lot of games for both systems. So what I'm going to do in this post is give you what I am looking forward to for each system. The Direct itself is only 35 minutes but is packed with a lot of information.

Nintendo 3DS

  • Ever Oasis: This game finally got a release date and a little bit of a story synopsis. I love a good JRPG so naturally, I am intrigued and it looks like the wait won't be too long. The game is set to release on June 23.
  • MiiTopia: I know what you're thinking but for some reason, I like these little Mii games. This is another game with an RPG twist to it that has piqued my interest. This title doesn't have a solid release date but it is set to be released sometime in 2017.
  • Monster Hunter Stories: I was worried that this title wasn't going to come to the West but it is and that's a good thing in my opinion. The game is set to release in the Fall but there is no solid release date and no mention of the amiibo though I  am pretty sure they will be coming as well.
  • Kirby 25th Anniversary: Kirby is getting that 3DS love. There were a lot of mentions of games for the anniversary of everybody's favorite puffball. Kirby fans are going to be happy with this reveal.
  • Amiibo: Finally have a release date for the last 3 Smash Bros amiibo of Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta. Each amiibo will have two variations, in other words, things are going to get interesting this summer when they release.

3DS Headlines

Nintendo Switch
  • ARMs: We got some more information on ARMs. There was even a new character reveal as well as a new mode. This title will be released on 06/16/17. There will also be a new Joy-Con color released as well as a battery extender. All in all the game looks better and better everytime I see it. I may not pick it up day one but I do plan on getting it at some point.
  • Ultra Street Fighter II: What can I say I'm a glutton for punishment. Plus this is one of my favorite arcade games. I am looking forward to playing this in HD and with Evil Ryu and Violent Ken.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Do I really need to explain, I mean it's Mario Kart.
  • NeoGeo Arcade: I like the collection that is on the Switch now and a couple of my favorite games are hitting the Switch eShop soon so I will be picking those up and don't worry I will be doing a gameplay of those games for my channel.
  • Fate Extelia: This was a surprise to me because I didn't think I would ever see a Fate game come stateside. I am a fan of the anime and I have heard a lot of good things about the games. Here's hoping that this one is a good game.
  • THQ Nordic Sine Mora EX and BattleChasers Nightwar: I am a fan of Suda 51 and the team behind the Darksiders series. I am happy that THQ Nordic is bringing both games to the Switch. Now I just need to change my backer status on BattleChasers to the Switch and I'll be good to go.
  • Splatoon 2: The Research Lab showed off a really weird quasi-training video to introduce their new mode that will be debuting in Splatoon 2. Salmon Run looks like a mash up between Horde Mode and Capture the Flag. I am looking forward to trying that mode out for myself. We were teased with more to come and received a concrete date of 07/21/17.
Switch Headlines

All in all, I thought the presentation was pretty good. I liked the format and the whole Headlines idea. It will be interesting to see what happens in the weeks leading up to e3 and what will be shown there. So what did you think about the presentation? What are you looking forward to in the coming weeks? Let's talk about it in the comments. As Always thanks for reading.
