Game Review - ARMS (makes me miss Ready 2 Rumble a little)

Available on Nintendo Switch

The Game
ARMS is the newest IP from Nintendo that combines boxing and slinkies. Seriously though, ARMS is a new fighting game fresh from Japan that feels like a cross between Ready 2 Rumble Boxing and Wii Sports Boxing, at least it does to me anyway. The game is a lot of fun to play. Each character has their own specific style and a special ability that suits that particular fighter. The game has 10 unique characters with unique looks and skills. There is a variety of ARMS that you can set for your character of choice after unlocking them. Every character starts with a base set of ARMS some work, some may not for your individual playstyle. For instance, I like to use fast characters and feints in my matches. So my characters of choice are Spring Man, Ninjara, and Ribbon Girl. I think that there are characters for all play types in this game. The fight arenas are varied as well and mesh well with the character that calls that arena home. There are plenty of …

Game Review - Garou Mark of the Wolves (honestly it's just Fatal Fury 4)

Available on XBONE, Switch, Dreamcast, PS4, PSVita, and PC; version played Switch
*This game may be available on other systems, however, these are the ones that I am aware of at this time.*

The Game
The last game in the Fatal Fury series and it's a fun one. The original game came out a while back and I never got a chance to play it until now. I have a fond place for the Fatal Fury series as it was one of the first fighting games I played and animes that I liked as well. But enough about that let's talk about the game. This game takes place some years after FF3 and the entire cast is new except for Terry Bogard. He is the only character from the original series that is in this title (although my personal favorite character Andy could have shown up too). From a story perspective, Terry's involvement makes sense as the game's story revolves around him and Geese's son, Rock Howard. From a visual standpoint, the game looks great especially considering the year it original…

e3 2017 and My Thoughts on the Conferences

Hopefully, you caught my YouTube channel live reactions from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo's conferences. If you haven't yet drop by the channel and check them out. What I want to focus on in this post are the games that caught my attention or that I am looking into picking up when they release. I thought that there was some good variety from each of the big three this year and I think that gamers will agree that there is a little something for everyone at this years e3.

First up, Microsoft. With the reveal of the XBox ONE X, we got a chance to look at the machine as well as the release date and price. The console will drop on November 7, 2017, and will retail for $499.99. Not gonna lie it looks good but it's not in my budget at the moment so if I do pick up one it will be at a later date.  Now let's talk games, shall we?

Assassin's Creed Origins: We got a release date for this one and the game will be dropping on October 27, 2017. This game has me hyped f…

Black Panther Teaser Trailer Released (Yep I'm Hyped)

So Marvel went ahead and released the teaser trailer for the Black Panther movie that is set to release on February 16, 2018. The trailer is short clocking in at only a minute and fifty-three seconds but it was enough, in my opinion, to get me more than hyped for the film. The trailer starts off with Andy Serkis' Ulysses Klaw speaking with Everett Ross played by Martin Freeman about Wakanda. And yes I did have a Gollum Bilbo moment when I saw them together, I don't see how you couldn't in all honesty. After their exchange, you get to see Wakanda and some of the different tribes and peoples that we will see in the movie. We get a few shots of Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger, who will be the main antagonist in the movie and he kind of looks the part. We also get to see the Dora Milaje as well as see a couple of scenes with them in action. I like how the trailer showed the blend of African tradition with how advanced the country is, it's like seeing the comic …

Film Review - The Mummy (soooo another cinematic universe is trying to get started)

Synopsis (from IMDB): Though safely entombed in a crypt beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess, whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.

There are some good things in this movie and some bad but this one question remains. Does Universal really need to make a Dark Universe? The short answer is probably no, just being honest.  That being said there were some things that were good to great about this movie. First, the action was done very well. The plane sequence that you see in the trailer is actually an intense scene when you watch the movie. Some of the more intense moments of the movie are actually well done. Another area I thought the movie did a good job with was the comedy. Jake Johnson is in the movie as Chris Vail, Tom Cruise's best friend, and he does a great job bringing some levity to the film. Tom Cruise is basically playing Tom Cru…

Pokemon Direct Thoughts

Okay, that was really short. The direct for Pokemon basically covered three games. It was short and to the point, much like this blog post is going to be. The first game they showed was Pokken Tournament DX. This game is the deluxe version of the Wii U title and adds 5 Pokemon and more game modes. I enjoyed Pokken Tournament on my Wii U and will more than likely pick this one up when it drops as I liked the way the game played and I would love to play with the new characters. The second game they showed is Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. The difference with this game is that there are new Pokemon that were not available in last year's title and that these Pokemon are compatible with the Pokemon Bank. This game will be out on November 17, 2017. The final game they showed was Pokemon Gold and Silver for the 3DS Virtual Console. This game will release the same day as Pokken Tournament September 22, 2017. That was pretty much it for today's Direct. Are you planning on picking u…

Film Review Wonder Woman (Finally DC Finally)

Synopsis (from IMDB): Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when a pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers and her true destiny.

See DC this is what happens when you add the sun to your movies. Everybody tends to enjoy them a lot. That's a joke, people. I know some of you want to grab your pitchforks right about now but before you do that let's talk about the movie, shall we. First of all, Patty Jenkins and the entire Wonder Woman team did an excellent job and I think that the praise they have been getting is well deserved. The movie is beautiful and is shot very well. I love the cinematography in this movie from showing Paradise Island to the World War 1 sets, it was beautiful …
