Movie Review - Kingsman The Golden Circle

Synopsis (from IMDB): When the Kingsman Headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, Merlin and Eggsy travel to the United States and the allied spy organization Statesman. In a new adventure that tests their agent's wits and strengths to the limit, these two elite organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that's becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy.

If you watched the first Kingsman movie then you have a good idea of what to expect with this film. Just like the first film this movie gets its inspiration from the more ridiculous spy thrillers. It has action, comedy, car chases, a few truly jacked moments for added shock value, and lots of alcohol. One of my favorite things about this movie is the way that it is shot. The action scenes especially, are done in a way where you can see what's going on. One of the standout action sequences in the first film was the church fight and they do a really good job …

Impressions - Metroid Samus Returns

Available on the Nintendo 3DS

One of my favorite video game series of all time got a new entry recently. Metroid Samus Returns is the remake of the Game Boy game Metroid II. Sad to say I never got the chance to play it when it originally released and its one of the few games in the series that I haven't had a chance to play. Needless to say, I have been looking forward to this one. From a visual standpoint, the game is beautiful. The artwork and environments look great and make planet SR-388 ready for exploration. The game moves at a brisk pace as enemies are pretty plentiful at the outset, which is good because of the new additions to the gameplay.  The story itself is pretty straightforward, Galactic Federation sends scientists to the planet, they send back garbled messaged before they are mysteriously never heard from again. Federation sends in one lone bounty hunter to find out what's going on. See, as straightforward as straightforward gets. Personally, I love that about …

Impressions - Project Octopath Traveler Demo

Available in the Nintendo eShop

Announced during the Nintendo Direct on September 13, 2017, the demo is the newest game from Square Enix and the team behind the Bravely Default series. The game boasts a unique visual style that is being dubbed HD-2D or 2D-HD, whatever it is it looks great in motion as there are little touches in the backgrounds and throughout the areas that give the game a style that I haven't seen done before. The soundtrack is amazing and the voice acting is very good. I especially enjoy the Primrose voice actress, as I think she nailed it and I can't wait to see more of the character in the full game. The combat is that of a normal turn-based action RPG with a new wrinkle and that is Boost Points. Saving boost points and using them at the right time can strengthen an attack or special ability to deal out major damage. Personally, it saved me plenty of times as you can see if you follow my Youtube channel or my channel on VidME.

The demo allows you to play t…

Thoughts on the Nintendo Direct for 09.13.17

Today's Direct was a large one, time wise, and covered games that will be releasing in the Fall as well as next year. The basic setup was much like the last Direct with four games having a spotlight and the rest showing up as headlines. I like that approach, in all honesty, however, today's direct was broken up into two parts. The beginning was dedicated to the 3DS and the last part to the Switch. Here's what interested me during the presentation.

Nintendo 3DS
To be honest not to much piqued my interest during this portion of the presentation but there were a couple of things that caught my eye. It started off with a Pokemon Sun and Moon Ultra trailer and a discussion about what happened to the cover Pokemon. This might be an interesting game to play. I usually skip a game or two in between my Pokemon games so I may pick this one up at some point. The next game that caught my eye was Metroid Samus Returns. The game releases this Friday so they just gave us a trailer and a …

The Nintendo Switch 6 Months Later

It's been six months and I was thinking to myself that now would be a good time to revisit my overall thoughts on the Switch. Needless to say, I am still happy with my choice. There are a lot of titles to choose from across different genres as well. One of the main issues that plagued the Wii U, long months without games, has not been an issue so far. I have never had an issue with my Joy Cons or anything like that like some owners had at first, my experience has been very smooth with the console. Everything works as advertised and I find myself taking it with me to work to get in a gaming session during lunch from time to time. The design is still perfect to me. It's not too big, not too small it's just right and it is easy to get people involved in a game if they want to play. There are a lot of indie titles and Neo Geo titles available on the system that are fun to play and even more are on the way. The Fall and Winter lineup looks very good with a few titles that I ha…

Thoughts on Nindies at Night 2017

**I'm a little late to the party as life once again jumped in the way.

Once again Nintendo had a Nindies at Night event at PAX West. They showed a lot of interesting titles including a title that I am sure will be in a lot of fans library once it releases. Here are a few of the games that I am looking forward to from that showcase.

Wulverblade: This game looks like it will be a lot of fun. It's an arcade brawler that is set in Britannia and uses real historical figures for their fictional story. This one will be a purchase for me as I love the art style and the game play.SteamWorld Dig 2: I played the first one and I thought that it was pretty good. Naturally, I will be giving this one a shot when it releases as well.Mulaka: If anybody knows me then they know I like a good or interesting art style. This game kind of reminds me of Mark of Kri from the PlayStation 2 generation of gaming. Dragon Marked for Death: Sometimes Inti Creates has a game that just piques my interest and …
