TV Review - Stranger Things Season 2 (don't worry its spoiler free)

Available on NetFlix

Thoughts on Season 2
The season takes place one year after the events of season 1, so yes you need to watch season 1 if you haven't yet. There is a lot to like about the season as the show picks up where they left off and in my honest opinion, ups the stakes and never look back. This season there are nine episodes instead of eight and nothing feels like a filler episode. The writing is solid and the characters that you know and love are all there doing their thing. The new additions to the cast this season do a great job as well and the chemistry between the kids is fantastic. I'm calling it now Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, deserves an Emmy for his performance this season. That boy was putting in some serious work. Not to say that everyone else sucked, its just he stood out in my opinion. David Harbour also was a stand out to me in the season especially toward the latter half of the season. His character of Hopper had a lot of character growth and it worke…

Impressions - Wulver Blade (The North Never Forgets)

Available now on Switch, coming soon to PS4, XBONE, and Steam

Initial Thoughts
Wulver Blade from developer Fully Illustrated is an old-school side-scrolling beat'em up. What makes this game unique is the fact that it is based on real events. Basically, the game is historical fiction at its finest. Wulver Blade's art style works well with the action and gameplay mechanics. I found myself enjoying how beautiful everything looks, especially in motion. The story revolves around a trio of siblings: Caradoc, Brennus, and Guinevere and their mission to stop Rome's invading Ninth Legion from taking the North of Britannia. There are eight chapters in the campaign with a lot of secrets contained in each chapter. A lot of the secrets contained in the chapters are historical notes, videos, and pictures of actual places in Britain. Being a bit of a history nerd I found this to be awesome and I have found myself replaying chapters trying to make sure that I didn't miss anything. Besi…

Impressions - BattleChasers Nightwar 10 hours in

Available on XBONE, PS4, Steam, and will release later on the Switch

10 Hours In
This game comes from the members of the team behind the Darksiders series. Some of you may even remember this as a comic book in the late 90's under Image Comics Cliffhanger line. This is actually one of the games that I backed on Kickstarter as I am a huge fan of Joe Mad and of the Battlechasers comic. The good thing about this game is that you don't really have to have read the comic in order to play. The story is a standalone story, which I think is a good idea. The story opens with our heroes being shot down and having to figure out whats going on on this island that they have landed. Visually, the game looks great. The artwork is awesome and the environments are unique and varied. On the map, the game is viewed in an overhead camera style much like how the old Tales of games used to look. Enemies appear on the map as well as loot points and other little extras. Cutscenes are handled in a story…

Season Review - Voltron Season 4

Available on NetFlix

Basically, this season is part 2 of season 3. It picks up right after the origin episode. If you have been watching the series so far then you know what to expect. The animation is great and for the most part, the story is tight. I like some of the decisions that were made with the story as it made for some great story beats in my opinion. One of the things that I liked about this season was the return of Emperor Zarkon. Not gonna lie I like how they use him and how undeniably evil he truly is, you don't really want to mess with Zarkon. With the season only being six episodes its a pretty fast viewing and that could possibly lead to a few issues down the road. With that being said there are some things that I didn't like with this season. I didn't like what they did with Keith. Keith has always been my favorite paladin, even going back to the original show. The way he acted this season, in my opinion, was a little counterproductive to what they…

First Impressions - Pankapu

Available on PS4, XBONE, Switch, & PC

One thing is very clear when this game starts and that is the artwork. Visually, the game has a style all its own. The game itself is like a children's story. In fact, the beginning of the game starts with a child having a nightmare and their father coming in to read the story. From there the game begins and it is really a straightforward game. From an artistic standpoint the game is beautiful and even though some of the villains look simple there is enough variety to keep things interesting. The environments are well done in my opinion and they all hold secrets. The game encourages replay of levels to find hidden rooms and other things laying about on a particular stage. There is never a dull moment in this one.

From a gameplay perspective, the game reminds me a bit of Dust An Elysian Tale. The game plays like an action platformer. Pankapu has different means by which he can fight. Some of which can be found in the game, these …

First Impressions - Destiny 2

Available on PS4, XBONE, & PC

Yeah, you read that right. This game has a campaign mode and it's actually pretty good, in my opinion. As a matter of fact, the game starts off with you in the campaign. The game gets pretty hectic as you have to fight your way to the invading alien, a very big Michael Clarke Duncan looking guy named Ghaul. I don't want to spoil anything for you but I have to give it to Bungie they did a good job on the story for this game. The voice acting is well done, with my favorite character being Cayde-6 voiced by Nathan Fillon. He pretty much has the best lines in the game period. Visually, it looks amazing and the Cabal, new bad guy army, are appropriately armed. They are also appropriately annoying in some instances. Now they are certain aspects of the campaign that can't be accessed until you reach the appropriate level. The game does allow you to reach the max level, at the time of this post it's 20, at level 20 the campaign is more…

Thoughts on Def Comedy Jam 25

Available on NetFlix

"When was the last time you seen this many heavy hitters in the same place?" That was said by Steve Harvey during the opening of this special and it really was on point. This special is a mix of a reunion/celebration of the show that launched a lot of black comedians careers in the 90's. Most people would have never heard of Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac, Cedric the Entertainer, Adele Givens, Melanie Comarcho, Eddie Griffin, Sheryl Underwood, and many others if it wasn't for this show. While the show itself didn't have a lot of standup routines the ones that they did have were on point and really had me feenin for a show like that to come back. While the show was definitely funny there were some parts that were really touching. One part was a tribute to Bernie Mack, one of the Original Kings of Comedy. My favorite part of the special though had to be Dave Chappelle and D.L. Hughley when they went off script and gave the audience the best 10-minute…
