Film Review - Ant-Man and the Wasp (Spoiler Free)

Synopsis (via IMDB):  In the aftermath of Captain America Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he's confronted by Hope Van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

If you saw the first Ant-Man film back in 2015 then you know what to expect as this movie runs along the same lines. This is a comedy and they are not shy about that, also this story takes place before the events of Infinity War (more on that later). The majority of the story of this film takes place around trying to get Janet Van Dyne out of the Quantum Realm. The movie begins with Scott on house arrest for his part in Civil War and being on the outs with the Pyms because of his actions (damn the Sokovia Accords). To be honest, I …

TV Series - Luke Cage Season 2 Review (Spoiler Free Of Course)

Available on NetFlix

The Hero of Harlem is Back
This season was an interesting one, to say the least. On a personal note, I thought they fixed a lot of the issues from the first season. In this season, Luke is still the defender of Harlem and still trying to find a way to get Mariah and Shades behind bars. Nothing ever goes smoothly in these Marvel/Netflix shows and when a new player comes on the scene that has a vendetta against the Stokes family things get complicated. Mustafa Shakir's portrayal of Bushmaster is amazing. He is one of the best villains Marvel has, period. As the season goes on you really see Bushmaster and Luke as having similar motivations just different ways of going about achieving the goal of getting rid of Mariah. Alfre Woodard does an awesome job as Mariah especially as her arc goes to some interesting places this season. The new cast members do a great job as well, my favorite though is Gabrielle Dennis' portrayal of Tilda Johnson. I am looking forward …

First Impressions - Blazblue Cross Tag Battle

Available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam

As the name implies Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, is tag based fighter from Arc Systems Works and Bandai Namco. It's a tag team fighter in the same vein as Dragonball FighterZ just instead of 3 vs 3 it's 2 vs 2. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of similarities between the two games. Both have simplified commands and both are easy to pick up challenging to master. As for the variety of characters, it appears to be a little heavy on the BlazBlue side and I am not that familiar with In-Birth. That being said though, I like the characters that are assembled for the game. While the game does use a lobby style format in order to access the menus I think it is done pretty good. Everything is easy to get to and easy to find. There is plenty to do in the game. From a visual standpoint, I like it as they use a similar format to FighterZ but one that I think is far more accessible with how easy it is to find everything. There is a D…

TV Review - Voltron Season 6 Review

Available on NetFlix

Season 6 picks up right where 5 leaves off and it is an enjoyable season. By now, I think viewers of the show have grown accustomed to the shortened seasons and this season is only seven episodes long but a lot of questions from previous seasons are answered in this one. By far my favorite episode of the season is Black Paladins. We finally settle on who the leader of Voltron is and how far one goes to save family. Just like last season, there is one filler type episode but its pretty interesting in that this time the team plays a Dungeons & Dragons type tabletop RPG. I have to admit I had grown to like Prince Lotor as I pretty much got played and thought they were going to make him a good guy but boy did they reveal that he was just as bad if not worse than his father. It will be interesting to see where they go in the next season as the season finale does a good job of tying up this story but leaves the door open for a number of other issues. There wasn'…

e3 2018 - Nintendo Press Conference

So Nintendo has done what they normally do which is have a Direct for their showcase. Going into this it had been reported by multiple outlets that the Direct was going to have a heavy focus on the new Smash Bros game. Knowing that the showcase itself still have a couple of surprises as well as a first look at the latest in the Fire Emblem series that is coming to the Switch. Here are a couple of the games that a piqued my interest as well as one that I will personally be enjoying later this year.

Daemon X Machina
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC Dragonball FighterZ Super Smash Bros Ultimate

I know some people are highly upset by Smash Bros being a focal point but people it was reported that being said I thought the showcase was pretty good. Nintendo is doing their Treehouse Live Events for the rest of the week at e3 and it is rumored that there are more surprises in store. What did you think of the Showcase? Will you be watching the Treehouse Live? Leave a comment and as always thanks for rea…

e3 2018 - Sony Press Conference

Well, that was painful to get through. So if you caught my play by play of the Sony Presser you should know that it pretty much bored me. While the show overall was a letdown there were still a couple of games that piqued my interest. There was also that game that still confuses the hell out of me to the point where I am starting to think that Kojima is trolling people. With that being said check out the trailers for two of the games I that caught my eye.

Ghost of Tsushima

There you have it folks, Ghost of Tsushima was the game that impressed me the most from their conference. It was nice to see the demo of Spider-Man in action as well as I believe both of these titles will be system sellers in their own right. There is more to come in the next couple of days as Sony has show floor demos scheduled for the rest of the week. Check out their YouTube and Twitch channels if you're interested. What did you think of the Sony conference and what are you looking forward to in the…

e3 2018 - Microsoft Press Conference

Okay, Microsoft we see what you trying to do out here in these gaming streets. Microsoft this year really needed to bring it in my opinion. They have been unnervingly quiet and that has left people wondering what in the blue hell is going on with them. Needless to say, Microsoft came out swinging and showed a lot of games. A few of which piqued my interest. If you missed the show you can watch it on Youtube. I also did a play by play commentary with a guest and you can check that out on my channel. Check out the games that caught my eye.

Halo Infinite
Nier Automata
Kingdom Hearts 3
The Division 2
Tomb Raider
Jump Force
Devil May Cry 5
Gears of War 5

These are just a few of my favorite games that were announced at the conference. What games did you like? Let me know in the comments. Also be sure to check out the YouTube channel for live play by plays from the big 3 game companies. As always thanks for reading.

First Impressions - Raging Justice

Available on the Nintendo Switch, XBox One, PS4, and Steam

It's not every day you get to relive childhood memories that may actually work out favorably. Raging Justice is a love letter to the side-scrolling beat'em up games of the 80's and 90's.  More specifically, Final Fight and Streets of Rage, games that hold a soft spot in many a gamers heart. From a visual standpoint, the game looks like a cross between Streets of Rage and Killer Instinct. The character models look like they came straight out of Killer Instinct Gold on N64. That's not a bad thing in my opinion as I felt the art style worked in the game. There is variety with the enemies that are in game. I mean of my favorite bosses in the game is a pimp complete with purple suit and a cane. There are three characters to choose from: Rick Justice, Nikki Rage, and Ashley King. I know, I know, sounds like a straight to video 90's action movie and they kind of fight like it at times.

The gameplay is as strai…

Film Review: Solo A Star Wars Story (Spoiler Free of Course)

Synopsis (from IMDB): During an adventure into the criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.

Okay just to be clear, I don't see where all the haterade is coming from honestly. I don't know what people were expecting from this film but me, personally, I was expecting some sort of heist film set in the Star Wars universe. I don't know if there was a large outcry for a Solo movie but this movie wasn't that bad and told a decent story in my opinion. Just like in Rogue One, this film deals with the darker side of the Empire, essentially the lawless side. Crime Syndicates, gangsters, smugglers, hustlers, these are the character types that fill this story. From a visual standpoint, I thought that the film took its cues from Rogue One a little in the fact that they show the ugly side of the empire. That's one of the things that I like is the practical effects in this film. It just ma…

Film Review - Deadpool 2 (Spoiler Free)

Synopsis (from IMDB): Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy with supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling mutant Cable.

Synopsis (from Twentieth Century Fox): After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.

To be completely honest with you I very much enjoyed the first one and was in real need of some laughs when I went to see this movie. In my humble opinion, this movie is funnier than the first one. All the while being a different type of film. The first movie rea…

First Impressions - Super Daryl Deluxe

Available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam

Initial Thoughts
There's one thing that you will notice from the outset of this game and that is its visuals. The artwork is awesome, in my opinion, and has a look that reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite. The story itself is comedic in tone and it works. The game is set up as an action RPG, all moves have specific cooldowns and unique actions. Finding the right set up is important and goes a long way in mastering the game. The enemies in this game are unique and can pose problems if you are ill-prepared. The setting of the game is high school and the developers do a good job of the different cliques in high school. Some of the extended cast is pretty memorable and have some hilarious lines. There is some voice acting in the game and it's pretty good. Overall, I am enjoying the story and artwork as it makes for a unique experience.

Gameplay Thoughts
As I stated above the game is an action RPG. That being said there is a learning…

Film Review - Avengers Infinity War (Spoiler Free) Review

Synopsis (From IMDB): As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats to large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has lead up to this moment - the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

Since this will be a spoiler-free review I will try not to mention any plot points but I will say this you need to have seen some of the movies in the MCU before watching this one. I know its 18 movies but it has all been leading to this and there are a lot of surprises that happen that if you have not been keeping up will leave you scratching your head. The stakes have never been higher and this is the second Marvel movie this year where the villain is just as amazing as the heroe…

Film Review - Batman Ninja

Available on Digital 04/24/18 on Blu Ray 05/08/18

Synopsis (from IMDB):  Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine transports many of Batman's worst enemies to feudal Japan - along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies - including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family - to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.

Okay, so that is what a stylized anime Batman movie looks like, not bad DC not bad. I have to say from a visual standpoint the movie looks amazing. The character designs are done very well also and the action is fluid and works well with the visuals.  From a story standpoint, it is completely ridiculous but it works as it feels very much l…

Film Review - Suicide Squad Hell To Pay

Synopsis (From IMDB): Task Force X targets a mystical object that they will risk their lives to steal.

So here's the deal, Warner Bros I think we know how you can save your live-action cinematic universe. Let the creative teams behind the animated movies write those films. Suicide Squad Hell To Pay is the second DC animated film to feature the squad, the first film being Assualt On Arkham, which I thought was a great film by the way. This film follows an off the books mission for the squad to steal a literal get out of hell free card. If you have watched any of the previous DC animated films then you know that the animation is excellent and the voice acting is top notch. All of that remains the same for this outing. This film plays as sort of a sequel to Flashpoint Paradox in a way. I can't say any more than that as that will lead to spoiler territory, but when you watch it you will understand. I found the movie to be a lot of fun and I do like the character interactions. Harl…
