Nintendo Switch Year in Review
What is up people. The Nintendo Switch turns one today and I thought I would give a few thoughts on some of my favorite titles on the system. Just so you know I do have a lot of games but these are just a few of my favorites. I may do a separate post on the Arcade Classic games that I have on the Switch because there are a few that I enjoy immensely on the system.
One thing that no one can complain about is Nintendo having droughts. The Switch gets games often and have even gotten third-party support (I know shocker). The indies are there in droves, so there is always something that will pique your interest. Let's take a look at my five favorite games on the Switch. These five games are in no particular order they are just five that I like to play.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Was there ever any doubt about this game being in my top five. This game is huge. The team at Monolith Soft and Nintendo did an amazing job with Hyrule. After 300+ hours in the game, I am still discovering new areas in Hyrule. This game is very deserving of game of the year.
Super Mario Odyssey - Full disclosure, I am not the biggest Mario fan but this game is special. There is just something about the quirky and outrageous nature of the story that keeps me laughing and playing. Also, the level design which hearkens back to many different games in the series is just inspiring. A really fun game, I cannot recommend this one enough.
ARMS - As a huge fan of Ready 2 Rumble this game brings back some good memories. The roster is unique and every single character has something special about them. It's a game that is easy to pick up but hard to master. The online is fluid but I suggest a lot of practice before you go online. Plenty of modes make this game one of my favorites on the Switch can't wait to see what they do for an encore.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Being a JRPG fan I was looking forward to this game and barring a few cosmetic issues and one main gripe with a story element, I enjoy this game immensely. The story is interesting and the characters are fun. I find the customization to be deep and learning the system is essential in taking down enemies.
Wulverblade - I am a little of a history buff and I love learning about cultures and hearing their stories and legends. Fully Illustrated has done a great job with this game. It is a piece of historical fiction but what I love about the game is the unlockables. You find a lot of information about the location settings and different weapons in this game. There are plenty of unlockables also the game is challenging, not frustratingly challenging but a fun kind of challenging. Also, it has a reasonable price in the eShop so check it out if you have a chance.
If you want to see some gameplay of any of the games on this list you can always check my YouTube channel and check out the playlist Arcade Nintendo Games. Thanks for taking the time to read my list. What are your favorite games from the Switch's first year? Let me know in the comments.
